Your first clients after a hair extension course: where to find them
The first ten clients almost always come from three sources: your own circle, model calls at a reduced price in exchange for photographs, and consistent before-and-after content on Instagram. Paid advertising rarely works before a portfolio exists.
Model calls, done correctly
Offer a reduced price, not free work. Free attracts people who will never return; a reduced price attracts real clients who value the service. State clearly that photographs will be taken and used.
Photograph everything from day one
Same light, same three angles, close-up of the attachment zone, before and after. Ten works shot consistently look like a professional portfolio; thirty works shot randomly look like an amateur album.
Show the process, not just the result
Clients scroll past finished hair — it looks like a hundred other photographs. They stop at the moment of application, the invisible bond in close-up, the hair moving afterwards. Process content converts far better than result content.
Price from the first paying client
Set a real price immediately and raise it after every five clients. Masters who stay cheap while building a base find it very difficult to raise prices later with the same clients.
Repeat visits are the goal, not new clients
Book the correction date before the client leaves. Extensions have a built-in return cycle of two to three months, and a master who books it in advance builds a stable income far faster than one who chases new clients each month.
Where the first ten clients come from
- Your own circle — friends, colleagues, family, at a reduced but real price
- Model calls announced in local community groups
- Instagram content showing process, not only results
- Referrals from your first satisfied clients, which begin around client five
What to post in the first month
Post the moment of application, close-ups of the invisible bond, hair moving after the work is finished, and short answers to questions clients actually ask. Finished-hair photographs alone look identical to every other master's feed and are scrolled past.
Turning a first client into a regular
Book the correction date before she leaves, send aftercare instructions in writing the same day, and check in after the first week. Three small actions, almost never done, that convert a one-off booking into a client who returns four times a year and brings her friends.

Frequently asked questions
How long until a hair extension master has steady clients?
Most masters reach a regular flow within two to four months of finishing training, mainly through repeat visits and referrals.
Should I work for free at the start?
No. A reduced price attracts clients who value the service and are likely to return; free work usually does not.
